Un mito di cui abbiamo già parlato tempo fa ricordando alcune dell sue moto, un uomo che ha sempre fatto parlare di se e che ha collezzionato nella sua vita belissimi modelli di auto e moto.
Ancora oggi molti dei mezzi a lui appartenuti vengono battuti all’asta a prezzi elevati, ancor più dovuti al fatto che sono appartenute a lui. E’ il caso di questa rara moto Cyclone del 1915 che potrebbe diventare la seconda moto al mondo ad aver raggiunto il milione di dollari in un’asta, e l’asta promossa dalla Mecum Auctions è prevista per il 20 e 21 marzo prossimo a Las Vegas, prepariamoci… Una Cyclone venduta nel 2008 ha raggiunto i 551 mila dollari e al momento è la terza moto più pagata di sempre e pensare che non era appartenuta a McQueen per questo si ipotizza che per quella che andrà in asta a Marzo gli esperti parlano di un prezzo tra i 650 e i 750mila dollari. Wow!
Un po di storia, la Cyclone è una moto realizzata nel 1915 dalla Joerns Motor Manufacturing Company di St. Paul, in Minnesota, è una delle moto da collezione più rare in assoluto, infatti ne sono stati prodotti solamente 300 esemplari dal 1912 al 1917 e attualmente ci sono solo sei modelli ancora in circolazione, ma oltre a questa caratteristica la cosa che rende ancor più interessante questa moto è il motore, un 996cc da 45 cavalli tra i più avanzati dell’epoca infatti nel 1913 la Cyclone aveva raggiunto la velocità massima di 173 chilometri orari, ben 32 in più del record di allora, detenuto da una Indian!
